The following is an update from our neighborhood’s PYMIG liaison, Steve Crime.

There are two items of interest to share with the community:
1. Demolition of the traffic circle is well advanced. Most of the existing plantings and hardscape on the circle have been removed. The builders are still waiting for Dominion Power to remove the eastern-most streetlight within the circle; therefore, the portion of the circle that will eventually be removed still remains in place. The orange construction fencing roughly encloses the portion of the circle that will removed. When that portion is removed, the underlying ground will be paved and the intersection of Potomac Greens Dr and Carpenter Rd will be turned into a 3-way stop. Additionally, a pocket park will be installed using the remaining portion of the traffic circle and the road on the west side of the traffic circle. See diagrams below:
2. The builders are “clearing and grubbing” (removing trees and bushes) in the area of the future station and most vegetation has been cleared. The next tasks in the wetlands will include installing a chain-link fence and beginning fill operations to level the site of the new Metro Station. The photos below show the fence line (red dashed-line) that will be installed and before/after pictures of the wetlands within the area that will be fenced:
