2 Upcoming Metro-Related Meetings; Please RSVP

Below is an announcement from our PYMIG representative, Steve Crime, of two upcoming Metro-related meetings for the Potomac Greens community. If you plan to attend the first meeting, please RSVP using the link therein.
“I represent Potomac Greens as a member of the Potomac Yard Metrorail Implementation Work Group (PYMIG). The level of knowledge within our community about the project to build a new Metrorail in Potomac Yard is, at best, mixed. Inevitably, this has led to confusion and rumors, some correct and some incorrect. This became clear at the March 28th HOA Board Meeting. At the request of the HOA Board and residents in attendance, we will hold two Metro-related meetings for our residents to provide greater clarity about the project.

The first Metro-related meeting will be held on April 23rd at 7pm in the community Clubhouse. The purpose of the meeting is to identify questions our residents have regarding design of the Metro Station, the construction process, environmental concerns and how information during the construction process will be disseminated to our community. The focus will be on questions that can be answered by City Staff, the WMATA project manager or by the builders, Potomac Yard Constructors (PYC), at the second Metro-related meeting. We will not focus on questions for the HOA Board; those are best handled at HOA Board Meetings.

The April 23rd meeting will be conducted as a brainstorming session. Using an easel with giant post-it-note type paper, we will write down the suggested questions from the audience for the first 30-45 minutes. The next 30-45 minutes will be dedicated to analyzing/editing/or deleting questions. Questions for which we already have the answers will be identified. Following this meeting the HOA Board will send the list of unanswered questions to City Staff, and the Communications Committee will disseminate a list of both unanswered and answered questions (with those answers) to the community. Please RSVP through this link if you plan to attend the April 23rd meeting. We need a headcount to make sure the Clubhouse can accommodate everyone who wants to attend.

The PYMIG will hold a meeting on May 21st to finalize the Metro station design that includes improvements to station access made possible by the additional $50M provided by the Commonwealth. This meeting, as with all PYMIG meetings, will be open to the public.

Then Potomac Greens’ second Metro-related meeting will be held shortly after the May 21st PYMIG at the National Media Center at 817 Slaters Lane. This meeting will be open to all PG residents and homeowners, and will also be attended by City Staff, the WMATA project manager, and representatives from PYC. The date and time of this meeting are TBD. I anticipate the City Staff, WMATA project manager, and PYC reps will present an overview of the most current state of Metro planning and scheduling as well as addressing every unanswered question provided to them following our April 23rd meeting. I strongly urge our residents to attend the second Metro-related meeting.”
