The following is an update from our neighborhood’s PYMIG liaison, Steve Crime.

There are two items of interest to share with the community:

1. The City of Alexandria will hold a public groundbreaking ceremony for the new Potomac Yard Metrorail Station on December 19, from 2-3 pm. The event will take place at the future location of the station’s northwest entrance (3601 Potomac Ave.), adjacent to the Regal Potomac Yard movie theater.

2. Preliminary work began today, 11/27, in the wetlands. The western portion of the wetlands trail at the bottom of the trail stairs leading down from the north park has been closed. The construction barrels will eventually be replaced by chain link fencing similar to that in the north park. It appears that workers are moving dirt to fill some of the of the wetlands to accommodate the fence. See the photos below:
