The City of Alexandria has just shared the following information with the community:

June 16, 2021
Reference: Potomac Yard Metrorail Station
Contract No. FQ16146

Subject: Noise Variance Permit – June 2021 – Communications and Signal Upgrades

Residents:

Potomac Yard Constructors (PYC) has been issued a noise variance permit for night work as described below. The scope of work consists of communication and signal upgrades on WMATA roadway. This includes installation of cable trough, conduits, and ballast. Equipment will consist of excavators, train engines and trailers, welders, generators, light plants, and hand tools.

Dates of work and anticipated activities:
June 18th through 21st: Communications and Signals Upgrades
Work Hours: 6:00pm Friday to 7:00am Monday

Activity: Communications and Signals Upgrades

Location: On WMATA Roadway (tracks) parallel to Potomac Greens Dr.; Main Line Blvd. will be operational for support work.

What Residents Can Expect:
Site Wide: Excavator, train, light tower, and dump truck noise throughout the night. PYC will do its best to ensure the light towers are in place during daytime hours, but this work will move along the WMATA tracks, so relocation of equipment will be required throughout the night. Without compromising a safe working environment, the light towers will be pointed away from residents’ homes as much as practicable.

2601 Main Line Blvd. Yard: Employee parking, use of office facilities, generators, movement of equipment, loading/unloading trucks

If there is a project site-related emergency, please call 914-353-2225. Call your local contacts and emergency numbers for all non-project related issues and emergencies.

If you have any questions about these activities, please contact the City Inspector Brian Whiteley at 703-656-6025 during regular City business hours.
