Subject: Noise Variance Permit – March 2022
Residents:
Potomac Yard Constructors (PYC) has been issued a noise variance permit for night work as described below. The scope of work consists of preparation for and placement of structural concrete deck on the pedestrian bridge across WMATA and CSX roadways (tracks). This work is required to take place at night due to CSX and WMATA regulations regarding work over the active roadway. Note, the work may not be continuous due to weather and availability of CSX/WMATA work windows.
Dates of work and anticipated activities:
March 18ᵗʰ through March 21ˢᵗ: Preparations – setup of equipment, forms, and protective wrapping.
Work Hours: 6:00pm Friday, March 18ᵗʰ – 7:00am Monday, March 21ˢᵗ
March 25ᵗʰ through March 28ᵗʰ: Concrete placement.
Work Hours: 6:00pm Friday, March 25ᵗʰ – 7:00am Monday, March 28ᵗʰ
Activity: Pedestrian Bridge Concrete Placement
Location: Station and North Pavilion site area and the rail corridor (adjacent to Potomac Avenue)
What Residents Can Expect:
Work Site: Light tower, concrete delivery trucks, concrete pump truck, and boom lift noise throughout the night. PYC will ensure the light towers and boom lifts are in place during daytime hours to minimize the noise and equipment alarms during nighttime hours. Without compromising a safe working environment, the light towers will be pointed away from residents’ homes as much as practicable.
At 2601 Main Line Yard: Employee parking, use of office facilities, generators.
