Parking District Update – Block Approval Failures

City Staff informed the Board of Directors that the Traffic and Parking Board approved the RPPD survey results and will recommend the City Council establish the Potomac Greens RPPD.

Per City Code requirements, City Staff divided Potomac Greens into 18 “blocks” for parking restriction signage. Of those 18 blocks, 11 met or exceeded the threshold for the proposed parking restrictions (2-hour parking 8AM-11PM, Mon-Sat), but 7 blocks did not meet the threshold to adopt the proposed parking restriction (click here for map for details).

What does this mean?

  • Signs WILL BE erected prior to opening of the Metro Station for the 11 blocks that approved the proposed parking restriction (no further action required for residents of these blocks).
  • Signs WILL NOT BE ERECTED for blocks that did not approve the proposed parking restriction (listed below) UNLESS the City receives a petition for allowable set times/days from a majority of block residents by June 24, 2022.
    • Block 1: 1866–1876 Carpenter Rd (even number addresses only)
    • Block 4: 700–712 Lyles Ln (even and odd number addresses)
    • Block 7: 700–715 Rose Sq (even and odd number addresses including 1773 Potomac Greens Dr)
    • Block 8: 1752–1780 Potomac Greens Dr (even addresses) and 1763–1773 Potomac Greens Dr (odd addresses)
    • Block 16: 1712–1722 Carpenter Rd (even number addresses only)
    • Block 17: 709–730 Carpenter Rd (even and odd addresses), 1712 Carpenter Rd, and 1711 and 1715 Potomac Greens Dr
    • Block 18: 1701–1711 Potomac Greens Dr (odd addresses) and 730 Carpenter Rd
