Our neighborhood’s PYMIG liaison, Steve Crime, has provided the following updates on the Potomac Yard Metro:

Upcoming Meetings. The next PYMIG meeting will be on Monday, January 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, Senior Room, 901 Wythe Street. This meeting will provide updates on the Development Special Use Permit (DSUP) Amendment, environmental permitting, and South Entry design options. Additional upcoming meetings are scheduled for January 28 (at the Durant Center), February 4 (at the Charles Houston Rec Center) and February 11 (at the Charles Houston Rec Center), times TBD.

Special Tax District. The Tier II portion of the Special Tax District was abolished by the City Council at their December 15, 2018 public meeting. As a reminder, the Tier II portion of the Special Tax District was established in 2010 and originally applied to the residential portions of Potomac Yard and to our community of Potomac Greens. Potomac Greens was removed from the Tier II Special Tax District by the City Council in May 2011, but there has been a continuing concern on the part of a few residents that we would be added back into the District. That possibility has now been taken off the board.
