Updated Pocket Park Design

Below is a note courtesy of our neighborhood’s PYMIG liaison, Steve Crime. Also please note that after last Thursday’s informal meeting to discuss Potomac Yard Metro construction, the Board inquired with the City and WMATA about any further updates and have so far not received any. As far as the Board knows, timing of circle demolition is after Labor Day.

“The PG Landscape Committee held its regularly scheduled meeting in the PG Clubhouse on August 12, 2019, at 6:30pm. One of the items on the agenda was the pocket park that will be created in part of the area currently occupied by the traffic circle. WMATA’s project manager of the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station project, Fred Robertson, attended the meeting to answer questions and take suggestions from the Landscape Committee on the final design of the pocket park. A picture of the updated design that incorporates most of those suggestions follows:

Notes: (1) There are typos in the picture we were provided, (2) ‘City standard benches’ are the type that were recently placed in the north park tot lot, (3) We asked for planters with either stone or decorative cast concrete facings, and (4) If an irrigation system is not installed it will be the responsibility of the builders (PYC) to keep the plants watered.”
