Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Cutover Construction Activity Alert

Dear Potomac Yard Residents and Businesses,

In preparation for the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Cutover, Potomac Yard Contractors (PYC) will begin 24-hour activity on-site starting the weekend of August 20, 2022. Activity will continue through completion of the cutover process. This work is necessary for the installation of train control circuits, signalization, trackwork, building envelope and finishes for the new Potomac Yard Metro Station. Work is required to take place at night due to WMATA regulations regarding work within the active roadway.  Work may not be continuous due to weather and the availability of WMATA work windows.

Please reference and disseminate this notice from the project contractor Potomac Yard Constructors (PYC) regarding the work planned for this time.

The Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Cutover will also require suspension of Metro service to all stations South of the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Station. Stations will be closed from September 10 to October 22, 2022.

Information about the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station project, the notice to the community and related noise permit, as well as travel impacts and alternatives is available on the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Construction webpage.

Visit WMATA’s Major Blue and Yellow Line Construction webpage for information on the cutover process, timeline, and related station closures.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Lydia Durand
