The recent proposal to relocate the Washington Capitals and the Washington Wizards from their current home in Washington, DC, to a newly built Potomac Yard facility has raised many questions and concerns. As currently proposed, the move will create an entertainment district that would include:

• The headquarters for Monumental Sports & Entertainment
• An arena for both the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards
• A Monumental Sports Network media studio
• The Wizards practice facility
• An expanded e-sports facility
• A performing arts venue

State and Local officials are reviewing the proposal. The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership has created a website (found here) to inform Alexandria residents about the review process. The website lists upcoming community engagement events and provides hyperlinks to presentation materials. Representative(s) from the  City’s Department of Planning and Zoning will attend the hybrid PGHOA Board meeting on March 28, 2024, so residents can interact with city officials in a manner sharply focused on our community’s specific questions and concerns.
