PYMIG updates, 7.26.2019

Please be aware of the following update from our neighborhood’s PYMIG liaison, Steve Crime. Also, two pages showing, roughly, the Potomac Greens homes that are located within the Metro project’s “limit of disturbance” and therefore eligible for a pre-construction survey can be found here: Potomac Greens Limit of Disturbance

PYMIG Updates, July 26, 2019

I wanted to provide updates on three matters of interest related to PYMIG:

1. Ron Lafond (our HOA President) successfully requested that the City assist us in having the builders extend the deadline to request a pre-construction survey for homeowners within 250 feet of the Limit of Disturbance. The new deadline is August 9, 2019.

2. On Wednesday contractors removed the black windscreen on the east side of the fence in the north park. The reason was so that park users would be able to see around the park until construction begins. When construction does begin, contractors will replace the missing portion of the windscreen.

3. Steve Sindiong, Alexandria’s Transit Capital Program Manager, sent an email that provided PYMIG updates and information regarding a new Metrorail Project Construction webpage. The text of his email follows:

‘Dear PYMIG Members:

We wanted to give you an update on a few items:

The Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality held public hearing on July 16, related to the draft Water Protection Permit, and was well attended. There were approximately 30 persons that provided comment, and of those, about half stated support for the locally preferred alternative. A video of the public hearing can be found on the Potomac Yard Metro Station project webpage at: https://www.alexandriava.gov/potomacyard/default.aspx?id=101657
We will keep the PYMIG updated on the date / time of the State Water Control Board meeting, where action will be taken on the Water Protection permit.

Secondly, we now have a Potomac Yard Construction webpage up – this is still in early form, and we will be continuing to update it as new information becomes available. You can access the webpage at: https://www.alexandriava.gov/potomacyard/default.aspx?id=110766

Finally, just a reminder, the next PYMIG meeting will be held on Monday, August 5, starting at 7pm at the Charles Houston Recreation Center – Multipurpose Room, 901 Wythe Street. The meeting agenda will focus on construction activity updates, and we will send you the agenda prior to the meeting.

Thank you,
Steve Sindiong, AICP
